Canadian Flower Sites

Despite the size of the country, there are numerous online flower sites that deliver across Canada overnight. Canadian purchasers, or those wishing to send to a Canadian recipient, can choose from a wide range of florists. We have evaluated major flower companies, but a simple Internet search for "Canadian online florists in (your area)" will reveal a host of local businesses with websites, should you prefer to support small businesses in your area instead. If you choose an alternative florist, use our guides to compare the relative value of the local business and the giant corporations.

1-800-Flowers.ca

1800Flowers.com is one of the largest and most popular online flower websites in the world. While they are a U.S. based company, 1800Flowers.com also operates in 40+ countries internationally, including Canada.

1800Flowers.com has one of the largest selections of bouquets and local delivery contacts in the online flower business. This means that you get a huge selection and can have your flowers delivered from one of 1800Flowers.com's florists near the destination, cutting down on travel based wear and tear. 1800Flowers.com also has a wonderful upgrade option, allowing you to create a small, medium, or large bouquet and showing you what each will look like.

Even if you do not use 1800Flower.com, their articles are immensely helpful. The Sympathy section is particularly noteworthy -- they have compiled a list of various funeral traditions and appropriate sympathy gifts. They also give advice on appropriate floral arrangements based on relationship with the deceased.

One potential drawback to 1800Flowers.com is the lack of an ordering option for specific flowers. Common flowers, such as roses and lilies, will always be available. However, if you wish to add a more exotic or out of season flower, you are not guaranteed to receive it. 1800Flowers.com has an excellent customer service department, though, and we highly recommend phoning in a request if you have a particular flower that must be in the arrangement but is not listed.

Price-wise, 1800Flowers.com is in the middle of the pack. A dozen red roses plus a vase is CAD $59.99 plus a delivery fee. Other roses will range throughout the $40 range.

FTD.ca

Much like their competitor, 1800Flowers.com, FTD is an international online mega-florist. They do deliver across Canada, as well as to 150+ other countries. FTD.com has a large selection of bouquets as well as an alternate gift section which offers ideas for recipients who do not like flowers. The site does also offer the option to create a regular, medium, or large bouquet.

FTD's selection is not as large as that of 1800Flowers.com and FTD's prices are higher. One dozen roses, plus vase, is CAD $74.99 plus a delivery fee. However, FTD.com does have several advantages. The site delivers to far more countries (150+ as opposed to 40+). FTD.com also offers a wedding section of bridal and bridesmaids' bouquets, centerpieces, and ceremony flowers.

ProFlowers.com

ProFlowers.com is cheaper than either FTD.com or 1800Flowers.com, but their limited contacts in Canada make for a relatively small selection of bouquets. The baseline price on the bouquet covers only the plants; vases will cost extra. Unlike the other sites, there is no option to upgrade the bouquet. If you like the arrangement, you must hunt through the other bouquets to find the bigger varieties on your own.

ProFlowers.com offers a dozen roses for CAD $49.99 plus shipping, with no vase. The site delivers to 60+ countries, but flower selections vary by geographic region.
